In 2007 Adrian Pietrariu, Lead Trainer and Owner, launched the West Coast Boot Camp Fitness Club for Kids”, a series of programs and services designed to ensure kids learn healthy eating and fitness habits early in life.  His inspiration came from his clients, many who are parents and who were concerned about a lack of physical education classes being offered in their schools.

The Fitness Club for Kids goal is to show kids how to make better fitness choices while developing positive lifelong exercise and eating habits

Public and Private School Kids

Public and Private Schools, City Parks and Recreation departments, private clubs and churches now have access to on-site fitness and nutrition classes customized for ages K-3, 4-6, and 7-9 grade levels.

Each session consists of 6 once-a-week outdoor fitness classes that are held at the end of each school day on the school campus, on church grounds, or in local parks in the Pasadena, Glendale, and Crescenta Valley areas.  Classes are taught by certified personal trainers, and are customized to meet the specific needs or fitness goals of each age group.

The WCBC Fitness Club for Kids is already working with a number of local schools and school districts to set up pilot programs at elementary schools starting this fall.

A recent study released by the University of Wisconsin Children's Hospital in Madison that while obese middle school students boosted their cardiovascular fitness and pared down their body fat percentage after 9 months of lifestyle-focused fitness classes, these gains had been lost when the school year rolled around again.  For fitness programs to have a sustained benefit, they must be offered year-round, the researchers conclude.
